S. Greg and I started our practice — Penoyre & Prasad Architects —— some fourteen years ago and we're now about 30 people, all sharing architectural ideas, and we're going to talk about some of those.
What you see on the screen here is a building that we did four years ago in 1999 at Snape Maltings. This is a famous concert hall which was built in the late 60s but by the beginning of the 21st century was lacking in lots of things. And we reinvented the whole idea of this concert hall and how its back of house and front of house would work. I'm going to talk a bit more about this topic — how do you give new life to old buildings, how do you see the problem of existing building and refurbishing existing buildings completely the same way as you might look at a new site, that's to say something that is pregnant with possibilities and open to complete re—invention.
